This was an issue with the configuration of the demo. You should be able to download and play it now.

The demo installs now, but as it is a static binary the steam overlay does not work. To make it work on Debian i had to extract the libc6 in the bin dir of the demo - for the same reason. The game has a stupid bug with KDE as well as the plasma bar is still visable in fullscreen mode. Did not really want to play it that way...

In the Library, right click on "Unity of Command Demo". Go to Properties, then click "Set Launch Options"

Enter the following: sdl-fullscreen

This should get rid of the plasma bar issue. Steam overlay does not work in this game anyway (i.e. neither on Windows nor Mac) because it's a software rendered game and Steam overlay does not support that.

Ok, that worked. But how about using a dynamically linked binary that does not ignore LD_LIBRARY_PATH and LD_PRELOAD and sdl by default? Isn't sdl rendered via opengl? World of Goo does not use 3d and still works with overlay.
