Steam for Linux

[BUG] "Sticky" buttons when Steam loses focus - mouse, Ctrl, etc (possibly focus-follows-mouse related)
Under some circumstances (most notably with focus-follows-mouse), Steam will have its "text selection" mode stuck on, even when I had released the mouse button, so when simply waving the mouse around the screen, blocks of text/images are getting highlighted in blue all over the place until I click the mouse button again to reset that state.

Likewise, I just had a situation where apparently the "Ctrl" key was locked on, because I went to search for "Team Fortress" in the game list, but whenever I got to the "a" it would select-all on the text box (highlighting the "te" which I had already typed), and then hitting "m" would end up erasing the "te". Like with the mouse, simply hitting Ctrl was enough to dislodge the sticky state.

This problem might be specific to people who use focus-follows-mouse, as I do. I can reproduce this by starting to select text, moving the mouse outside the Steam window, and then letting go of the mouse button. When the mouse cursor goes back over the Steam window, it's stuck on text selection until I hit a button again. It's likely because of the focus-follows-mouse thing...

I see this all the time, but I don't think I have the "focus-follows-mouse" option enabled. I usually get it when steam lags for any reason, or when I click the Back Arrow navigation button.

Confirmed for Linux Mint 13 as well, specifically when switching desktops with key combos like [Ctrl] + [Alt] + [Right Arrow] when a Steam window is focused. (When switching back, it will act as though the [Ctrl] key is stuck in the Steam window.)

It gets especially annoying in chat where if you hit [A], all your text is highlighted, and if you a fast typer, instadeleted, or when you type something with a [W] in it, this closes the window.

I've had the same happen to me.

For me it normally seems to happen when I hold down the button and scroll down using the side bar. Approximately 50% of the time after I release the key and move the cursor across the screen I see the blue highlighting.

I'd like to mention that this is still an issue in Linux Mint 14, and the most recent Steam client.

When switching between desktops ([Ctrl] + [Alt] + [Arrow Key]), often when I switch back, the Steam window will pretend I am still holding onto the [Ctrl] key, causing text input to act with sporadic functions. Like attempting to type "What?" would close the window because I hit [W] and [Ctrl] + [W] closes windows. Or when I type something with the letter "a" in it, it highlights everything in the textbox and clears it all on the next keystroke.

THANK YOU SO MUCH. It was so annoying that I could barely use the client. This resulted in me using my browser to access steam. Who knew that I was a simple button away from fixing everything. For Mac, I just had to press the Command key and it fixed. Thanks a bunch

Ah, interesting to know that it's not just a Linux issue (and therefore maybe not even focus-follows-mouse?)

Also, good lord, my Subject up there is a mess. I had to read that thing like three times before *I* realized what I was talking about, and I'm the one who wrote the thing. I think an edit is in order...
