Anybody else excited by Distance (spiritual successor to Nitronic Rush)?
Refract Studios, the guys behind Distance, an arcade survival racing game with a Tron-like feel has just added Linux support to its Greenlight profile.

They're also running a Kickstarter campaign at the moment, which was updated with this earlier today:
"We’re excited to announce that Distance will officially be supported on Linux! We tested Distance using the Unity 4 beta, and we feel confident that we can safely bring Distance to Linux. You can read more about the Unity 4 Linux support by checking out their FAQ page here. For those of you who are Linux users, please help by reaching out to the Linux community and let them know that this game exists!"

I really hope this ends up being successful. I've been hoping for a Linux version since Nitronic Rush was released :D

Although I never played Nitronic Rush or anything, this game looks sweet as and now with Linux support, definitely pumped!

Fingers crossed that adding Linux support has an impact for them. It'd be great to see us making a difference :D

How does kickstarter works, will the money be shipped back if the goal isn't met within the time frame?
So when I "donate" 15$ I'm basically buying the game if the project succeeds?

You don't get charged if the project doesn't raise its target, but if it does, then Kickstarter as an organisation steps back, and the project is entirely in the hands of the people working on the project (in this case Refract Studios).

Kickstarter have a blog post that talks about accountability, where legalities stand, and why things are the way they are if you want to read up :)

Distance has been fully funded and with 24 hours left is well on its way towards its first stretch goal. Huzzah :D

It looks the kind of racing game I enjoy. Already voted on greenlight, let's see the kickstart
