Also, subscribe to the whole forum to receive Steam notifications when there's a new topic, so you can post and show Valve that there are people talking about it and liking it :-)

In this case, maybe it means how many people are going to be using Steam for Linux when it releases to the public.

That's what I think... but I hope I'm wrong and not 13k, but 130k people start using Steam for Linux :-D

Honestly the number 13,000 impressed me.
I knew there were a lot of Linux users out there hoping for Steam, but I didn't think it was actually that many.

13,000 also surprises me. I was thinking that Valve might not even quite get the 1000 they want to test the beta. If there ends up being more games available on Linux Steam than Mac Steam, I wonder if more people will be using Linux Steam as opposed to Mac Steam.

The linux community is different from the mac community I think. We are a quite well connected and organized bunch, because we have to be. OSX users rely on Apple. Windows users rely on Microsoft. Linux users rely on each other.
