Voiting for Portal 2 on Linux
I'm not a big gamer, but I'm a Portal 2 fan. I played HL earlier, but when Portal 2 came out I registered in Steam and bought it. And I loved it. And just one thing prevented me from fully enjoying the game. It's Windows. I'm not using it at all, but to play Portal 2 I had to install Windows as a second OS. Still this is very inconvenient. You need to boot Windows to play, then reboot to work, and so on... Empty home folder, no browser configuration, viruses, brrr...

Now I'm very glad to see Steam for Linux is coming. However I wish Portal 2 will be the one of the first games able to run on Linux via Steam. So if you are agree with me, please vote by commenting to this post!

Actually, I don't agree with you. I love Portal 2 as well, but it's short. Multi-player games that people put a lot of hours into are better, and will help them work out the kinks for other source games. So, L4D2 and TF2 are good choices.

Portal 2 has a solid multi-player (2 player co-op)... It would be nice to have Portal 2 as soon as Steam Linux his gold.

I've never played L4D2, TF2, and I think never will, though maybe they are excellent games. But you forgot to say that Portal 2 has many good quality custom-made extensions (more than any other game), and you may wish to play it regularly but not too long. And here is difference with what you said. Namely, if you're planning to spend in the game a lot of hours you may not be so strongly disappointed by necessity to boot to Windows, comparing to the situation when you just want to play for a half an hour or so.

Um, again, I love Portal 2. Much more than TF2 in fact (but prefer L4D2 over either of those).

But, it's not about my preferences, nor is it about what's most convenient for people to just play for short times without rebooting. Beta testing about finding bugs, and for that goal it is better to choose games that people spend a lot of time on.

That said, even if they're only giving away one game for free with the beta testing, I hope the other source games get opened up for those who own them.

Portal 2 is based on the same engine of TF2 and L4D2. So it will be ported on Linux. Maybe not now but for sure it will be.

all the portals!

Portal2 is amazing game!.. I think it is better to test Source engine on Linux then use TF2 or L4D2 because Portal2 has singleplayer and multiplayer modes at the same time

I approve of this thread.
Would easily pay for both portal1 and 2 again for a Linux-version.

+1. Portal 2 is a game worth paying for, lack of Linux version is the only stopper for me right now

portal 2 is perfect game I think. I played Portal months ago, bought Portal 2 and now I want to play on Linux.

Half-Life 2, Portal & Portal 2 are the main reasons for which I am happy about Steam for Linux.
Although I am not a Left 4 Dead fan, I've already bought L4D2 to support the Linux development and encourage them to port other games as well.
