Sugestion = Port FlightGear
I used to play FSX on Windows but I don't want to use any MS product anymore.
Flightgear is easy to install on Ubuntu, but harder on Debian. It's also free =]

Please talk to FG's devs.

What if you talked to FlightGear's developers about putting FlightGear on Greenlight?

What pressure would a random single user make comparing to what Valve would?

Same case here.

I don't get it. What do you want to obtain from FG's developers ?

Either them asking for Valve to make FG available at the store or Steam requesting so. Both are ok IMO.

Why ? You can get it for free via synaptic.

EDIT: not in debian stable apparently, i just checked. But in ubuntu it's fine.

I'm on Debian Testing and still haven't been able to install nor compile it from source. The wiki pages are older than me aparently.

Are you getting an error when installing the package or something?

Not quite. The version available on Debian's repo is 2.6 (outdated).
I tried compiling 2.10 from source and numerous links are dead in the wiki, thus making it impossible for me to compile it.
I been thinking about importing it's PPA, but I'm not sure about that yet.

There is an experimental package available for 2.10, http://packages.debian.org/experimental/flightgear

Might be worth giving it a shot

I am not currently running debian currently but in the past I was able to compile FG from the source files and it ran fine. You might also want to take a look @ Xplane over at laminar research. It is also an excellent product, runs on windows, mac, and Linux. The linux installer can be downloaded from their site, Has to be set as executable under debian (chmod +x) and there are a few issues if you are running 64bit with openal libraries but not a big deal, easily dealt wth..

Since I'm on Arch there's FlightGear 2.12, which is fully opensource =)
