What OS did the Steam Hardware & Software Survey say you have?
it poped up as Linux Mint for me

Operating System Version:
Linux Mint 15 Olivia (64 bit)
Kernel Name: Linux
Kernel Version: 3.8.0-26-generic
X Server Vendor: The X.Org Foundation
X Server Release: 11303000
X Window Manager: Marco
Steam Runtime Version: steam-runtime-release-i386_2013-08-26

heres a few ways to tell what OS you're running

open your terminal and type in

cat /etc/lsb-release
or
cat /etc/os-release

Not all OS's have lsb by default.

junior@Junior:~$ cat /etc/lsb-release
cat: /etc/lsb-release: No such file or directory

Other ways to know:
cat /etc/issue
junior@Junior:~$ cat /etc/issue
Debian GNU/Linux jessie/sid \n \l
cat /proc/version
junior@Junior:~$ cat /proc/version
Linux version 3.10-2-amd64 (debian-kernel@lists.debian.org) (gcc version 4.7.3 (Debian 4.7.3-6) ) #1 SMP Debian 3.10.7-1 (2013-08-17)

"What OS did the Steam Hardware & Software Survey say you have?"

It will always post the same information that you'll find in Help -> System Information.

IIRC the survey only scans a small percentage of the active Steam users, not just everyone that has used Steam since the last survey.

That survey is bugged yes, people on windows get it everytime, onlinux i only saw it 2 times since december 2012.

I'm not sure why, but for me (who re-installed systems like 1000 times) I got plenty of surveys, I'd say at least 20 since November 2012.

Amazing how many people don't understand what random sampling means. They really think that if they have only been surveyed on Windows before that there is a bug lol! There have only been a handful of surveys anyway after Steam for Linux launched.

That's right. I had less surveys on WIndows than on Linux =] It doesn't mean anything

Yeah, well a random sampling will only get you a rough idea of what hardware is being used, not the OS. I've never been surveyed and likely most Linux users have not, thus the true numbers of Linux gamers using Steam are not known.

It's not like Steam can't garner this info every we log it, some of it can be gathered every time you load a page in the client since it's just a customized web browser, have a look: https://panopticlick.eff.org/

That's just pure nonsense. Even if you find 500 people who have never been surveyed on Linux doesn't mean crap. People seem to really suck at math.
