Can I use Steam on Linux/Ubuntu

I like to get ubuntu,but I don't know if I can use Steam and games I get with Steam.
right now I'm using Windows 7.I have all Call of Duty,Payday The Heist and all Max Payne.
I have install from discs,the first 5 of Medal of Honor and Call of duty 2

Yes you can use Steam, but only games with native Linux support will be available. In your case none of the games you own will work on Linux out-of-the-box unfortunately.
You can always give a try to Wine and install Steam using it, which will allow you to play those games with various results (from working perfectly to being broken, for sure Black Ops 2 won't work since DX11 in Wine is unsupported).

While I encourage many to use Linux and give it a go, one must also understand that by using Linux you will forfeit any games that do not have a native Linux port, namely the ones foresaid. You can try running them through WINE/PlayOnLinux, but the amount of time required to get them running and working properly supercedes the enjoyment thereof. Though, to be modest there are other games you can play on Steam. Good luck.

Go ahead and install Linux then have a look at what games are available in the native Linux client for Steam, you can also check out Desura fore more native Linux titles. Currently the library is small compared to Windows but there are several hundred titles out now on Linux.

All of Valve's games like DOTA2 and Team Fortress2 have already been ported as well as games like Metro:Last Light are currently being brought over.
