According to the site yeah, but you'd have to buy the game in Wine. It may be cheaper to just buy the boxed version somewhere, they can't be going for more then $5 anywhere these days due to how old the game is now. It apparently also works with the expansion packs.
What you need from the install is the game data files and art assets. From what I gather OpenMW then apparently replaces the engine with their own fer improved version that fixes a bunch of bugs in the original one and replaces the old DX8.1 renderer with one that makes use of all the new fangled shaders from OpenGL3.0+ to pretty up the game a bit.
I wonder if they'll add tessellation at some point.
