Ubuntu 13.04 Kernel 3.10.1 - Gallium3D vs Catalyst 13.6 beta
I tested both driver on kernel 3.10.1 and it looks like Gallium have much better performance in native Steam games and in wine games.

My PC:
OS: Ubuntu 13.04 raring
Kernel: x86_64 Linux 3.10.1-031001-generic
Resolution: 1024x768
DE: Unity 7.0.0
WM: Compiz
CPU: AMD FX(tm)-8120 Eight-Core Processor
Videocard: ATi 5670HD 1GB

TF2 is unplayable with Catalyst. I have mouse lag and some graphics glitch on Very High and 4xAA.
With Gallium I have alvays 30+ FPS with same settings.
Games with Wine (tested WarZ and Titan Quest) have same experiences like TF2.

Don't Starve have cloud glitch with Catalyst but running good with both driver

Dungeon Defenders running good with both driver.

Minecraft running badly with the open source driver and no fullscreen mode.

I think the open source driver get better shortly than Catalyst.

You got very poor performance. I have 4 core clocked something like 3600mhz at the moment (amd phenom 2). I had easily 100+ fps on some maps on tf2. Using kubuntu 13.04 and amd drivers. Don't remember ati driver version. It was at the time steam beta opened. I don't play tf2.

But I got around 10-30fps now on dota2. I wonder why it runs so poorly. I am using same computer, linux mint now.

Can you post a guide? I would like to run Ubuntu 13.04 + ATI 6790 + Gallium3D to play Dota 2.
How did you install the AMD drivers on kernel 3.10.1? Do you have a patch?

The open source driver runs better with older cards but with newer cards like my 7870 it doesn't even work :D
