Problems with steam on Linux Ubuntu

I am new user of Linux and I just downloaded steam and installed it. Problem is, i click on steam to start it and nothing is happening... What could be the problem? If someone can help me please write here...

Right click -> Open with -> Ubuntu Software Center

Also check if the file you downloaded is *deb and not *exe.

where did you download steam from, you should of used the repositories as it is more simple...
