Creating a linux OS from scratch!
I already made a post on hardware/operating systems, but anyone looking to make a linux OS, can get some information here:

http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/

Just figured this would be useful to anyone who wanted to try making a linux OS Cheers!

you have to get a sublicense from Linus Torvalds as well

Why would you want to make your own distro? Oo There are too many distros out there anyway... Better spend time contributing to those established to make them better imo.

Just figured I would put info out so that anyone intrested in making a linux OS would know that they could possibly make it. My Computer Science club is planning on making one, and I figured that I'd share this information. You could argue that by making a linux OS from scratch that you would be better equipped to make other distros better by getting the experience of making one yourself, as opposed to just knowing c and not knowing the backbones of linux OS.

I think it's ok to install linux from scratch, just because you can.
Of course, you're neither creating an OS nor a distribution that way,
you're just installing linux and some tools.
And you're probably learning a lot. (I never did it myself.)

Nonsense.. the kernel is GPL and thus everyone gets a license and can distribute code and / or binary without asking. Only prerequisite is that you have to distribute a copy of the GPL with it and if you change the code you have to opensource that changes too.

LFS is not a distro, its a handbook.
And i know that somebody tried to launch steam on it. Successfully XD
