Leaving Group
I am leaving this group, because there are to many Linux people who think they are better then others for using a specific distro for thinking that the word Linux or Tux in their names makes them far superior to others and those that Use Windows. If you use Windows, and want to Try Linux and require support please stay out of the Group Chatroom you will be made fun of and given faulty advise. You are forwarned.

Why spread drama and i'll advise to new users. Just becasue many of us have different distros or use linux/tux in our names does not make us "elitist". Anyone is welcomed dont take the above user to heart and come to the chat room with a warm welcome, you will be accepted just as long as you dont try spewing drama.

This reply is not an attack at you so don't reply back expecting to have a flamewar...

Agreed Salivating.

Agree with Salivating also. Some people are all too easily offended and we all know what the internets are like (stuff can be taken the wrong way).

The chat room is pretty cool in general, anyone is welcome. Well, if you are a Windows user just trying to get a Tux...erm well then understandably you might get what's coming to you lol ^.^

The group frowns upon and degrades those users that easy to use Linux Distros like Ubuntu or Mint. I thought I was welcomed in there, but got sick and tired of the elistist mentality and being insulted by someone calling me a hipster for owning a CELL phone the drama didn't start until that person insulted me. SO please heed my advice and steer clear of the elistist mentality of the Group Chatroom.

You said you were leaving...so...leave?

It's peoples own fault if they get treated like this.
I welcome anyone who is seriously interested in GNU/Linux and FOSS in general but it's not worth it if you're just digging for a time limited item exclusive to some underdog operating system.

Remember, learning new things takes its time and potholes are to expect, especially when being completely new to something which on top of that still has "some" troublemakers to deal with (i.E. broken GPU drivers) anyway.

Even on Windows I'd never use anything that might look useful but is out of range for my user experience.
So why trying on a OS I probably have even less of an idea about?

Seriously folks, before getting hands on GNU/Linux make sure you're really interested and ready to encounter problems at some point.
[Linux]Salivating monstah Mar 3, 2013 @ 4:42pm
If you call being a hipster over a cellphone as insulting than the internet is probably not a good place to be.
I am going to request a lock becasue this is just going to turn into a targeted attack at the group.

If you have problems with me and/or someone else please take it up with them in private do not drag the group into it. And I recite the group is not an "elitist" group if you can not distinguish what a joke or phun is from advice than you should probably pay more attention to the conversation.

First of all, I can't see any of the people I have seen in Steam for Linux tell new people to use Arch. (I am using Mint, and I have been told to practice installing arch oodles of times in a virtual machine before even trying to put it on my hard drive), second of all, the group frowns on gnome3 distros, but not necessarilly their users. (although we do make make fun of Windows users a bit, many here feel that Windows users are elitist against us).

I'll give you that many in the chat room frown upon Apple users, but I for one say each to his own~

Requoting for backup purposes! (because we all know Linux users do backups)

If I was trying to cover my tracks I would delete this thread, but I am not deleting it as people need to be aware of the immaturity and level of intelligence is in this Group. I thought this group would be a fun place to hang out in, but in return it has been the very existance that all Linux themed places become or have become. A hangout for the "elitist mentality". Its quite pathetic. I do know the difference beteween joking and tones, but there is no joking manner when people are asking for help only to get ♥♥♥♥ poor advice. If you want to offer advise and then give poor advice then maybe the internet isnt a place for you to be to be offering advice.

That whole "tell a noob to install Arch or Gentoo" thing is kind of funny. It's a bit like throwing someone into the deep end of the pool. They either sink or swim.

I failed to understand your point. If you hate Linux users for personal reasons, keep it to yourself. We are here to support and help other Linux users. If anything, we are excited about new Linux games that Valve brings to us, and it has nothing to do with hatred towards Windows. I actually believe Windows users would be the haters, because Linux is not famous for its games, and now that we are finally getting some, Windows users start to feel inferior. Maybe it's that we have such a strong but small community. This is just my hypothesis.

Quoting for backup purpose and reply

I will recite again this is not an elitist group and yes you are hiding your tracks by deleting posts in this thread.

As to say for immaturity and level of intelligence you are painting a quite clear picture about yourself in this thread I would advise that you rethink your descisions through if you have a problem with a member deal with it in private. But there is no need to drag a community of "not elitist" into it. We use every distro under the sun some of us are arch, mint, *buntu, .etc we don't care if you prefer one over the other that is your opinion just like many users express there opinions on desktop enviroments and window managers still makes it an opionion not a fact.

Thats the ling with Linux though you get what you want or what you need.

Someone get john in here.

Fair point. If you want to see elitism or group bashing, try being a Linux person in the middle of a Windows-centric gaming forum. Haha holy crap it gets nasty.

Windows/Mac users can be just as guilty of what the OP is talking about. But I don't agree about this specific group, it's pretty helpful in general unless you're too lazy to do what is suggested to you. Then of course, people get frustrated.

If you think that the group community is an issue, you should not really be all red alert about it, doesn't help, if anything you should have raised the mentality as an issue in general.

It just devalues your claims, doing it this way :c
