TF2 headset problem.....
I have a problem with this game, it seems to only want to play sound through my speakers and not my headset....and its the only one doing this, Bastion, Amnesia and the Penumbra games all play in the headset fine....Running Kubuntu 12.04 64-bit

My guess is that Bastion, Amnesia, and the Penumbra games are using ALSA and TF2 is using Pulseaudio. Try running steam with the following command and see if it solves your problem.

env SDL_AUDIODRIVER=alsa /usr/bin/steam

The disjointed audio system of Linux is one of the main problems with Linux on the desktop.

Thanks for the reply, I had just "fixed" this issue, about half an hour ago, by installing the 'PulseAudio Volume Controle' since i figured PA might have been the problem.....perhaps if new games stick to one standard the main Buntu based distros will follow suite and avoid that headache for newbies like me in the future
