Installing CS 1.6 and HL (Goldsrc) stops with "unknown error"

Using Fedora 18 x86_64, fglrx/catalyst (32bit libs installed).
CaveStory+ and Source games install fine, but CS 1.6 and HL stop at "Preparing files for installation" and says "Unknown Error".
Checking the logs I found this:

"Update job for app 70 canceled: Missing decryption key for depot 1"
In the content_log.txt.

Apparently nobody has this issue. I had HL installed before but after it refused to update I had to remove the game files, now I'm stuck.

Have you tried to update it from scratch? Deleting it's contents and folder and then trying to re-download again?
