i cheated for a tux" - Is this going to get fixed?
I found this on the github.
There seems to be another way to get tux.
https://github.com/ValveSoftware/steam-for-linux/issues/1815

nessib
too many complains over a virtual item that has no game-changing effect in the game itself and isn't even trade-able to begin with.

MrSchism
Well, there's a reason for that.

1. First, it tries to draw new Linux users.
2' Second, Tux is a gift to the Linux community who pushed for a Linux client and beta tested TF2's client.
3. Third, Tux is the linux mascot. By not using linux, but equipping Tux, you misrepresent yourself to others for an item that, as you said, is not able to be traded nor does it make any change to the game and....
4. It violates the Steam Subscriber Agreement.

Valve is looking into this, and its not about people who just install linux, and then remove it.

I guess there was a surge in Mac OS users when the steam client came out for Mac just so they could get their hands on the earbuds.

So far, no one has reported missing items or anything like that. Pretty dumb how people are able to get the Tux from a Mac or Windows. I believe someone mentioned that the legit Tuxes will be made Genuine. I have no idea how this is going to work out, because the Genuine ones will be worth A LOT more than non-legit ones. There could be like 5,000 Tuxes, but only 2,000 Genuine Tuxes...

You would be surprised. Just today, heard on the radio that a lot of young people share their finance info throgh messaging and other sorts of technological sharing. Which has lead to increased fraud and indentity theft

on the topic:
no I dont think it should get removed.

a) at least people heard now of this "Linux" at least which popularity thankfully was increased a lot by valve => games = masses

b) what about me having more than one OS and location of gameplay. What if I was playing on a windows machine when the removal script is beeing started (as someone suggested)

Approximately 4,975 people that either used that program, or just copied the nick (I'm sure *some* could have been tricked into setting their display name to that.)

This is at a minimum.

Along with who knows how many that used another version of the same program without the name change.

Forged Linux is like forged money. The more of it in circulation, the less the value.

Don't feed the troll.

Those are probably the same kind of people who download "No CD" Cracks and Keygens for pirated games and wonder why their PC turns into a Botnet Zombie.
