Surround sound headsets?
I've been looking around and it seems there is no way to get virtual surround sound to work. Does anyone out there know a way, or know a headset that works? I use a g35 in windows, it's one of the few things keeping me from mainly using linux. I was hoping that the GameCom 780, and GameCom Commander work, but I really don't think they well (for surround sound at least).

that's a problem of the manufacturers, if they don't provide linux drivers for their products.
you can still buy a surround headset that's not usb. I have this http://www.amazon.de/TEAC-Surround-Headset-5-1-Vibrationseffekt/dp/B000E5MTS2

i think the problem is more that the source games currently do not support any surround sound on linux yet, as far as i know, which is pretty sad because i like playing left for dead 2 on my tv+av-receiver in surround sound on windows. on the windows source-games there are options to set the sound to more then 2 speakers.

These USB virtual surround sound cards will most likely not work under Linux, the best bet for surround sound headsets under Linux is getting a "real" surround headset. I used to own a Roccat Kave but I really can't recommend it. Very high quality appearance but cheap on the inside.
