The Gods do indeed favor us. :P

How did you measure that?
2% - after just a few days (even with the TF2 Tux and the temporary wave fo collectors) would be a lot.
I would have considered 1% after months a great success.

It might go down after the Tux collectors leave, but I'm willing to bet Linux will hit a higher percentage than that in the long run.

I just want it to get higher than the Mac usage, because then at least we should get all the Mac games ported across.

I want it to go higher than Windows XP 32 Bit which is the 3rd most popular OS. This is kind of sad. XP is ancient doesn't support most modern stuff like TRIM for SSDs or newer DirectX version and being 32 bit is limited to 4 GB of RAM. Yet it still makes up for 10% of the Steam Clients.

Wonder how that number will change when MS drops support for XP in April 2014.

I live in Korea, but have also traveled extensively throughout China and Southeast Asia, and can tell you that most computers in this part of the world are still running WinXP. Most cybercafes you go into (here they're called "PC-Baang") have computers all running WinXP. These cybercafes are all geared towards gamers, so I imagine this probably skews the stats. If all of them switched over to Win7 or anything else, that particular OS would see a HUGE jump.

Let's hope that instead of switchting to Windows 7 or 8, most of them switch to Open Source Linux goodness and create more presure on hardware manufacturers and devs to support penguins (Asia gaming market is just HUGE) :)

I would think that they might do just that. Even though China is becoming a big player there are many, many people with bellow the average wage. With steam on linux they might give it a try. In the end, it's free of charge!

That's old info. That survey is updated monthly. You are referencing January info. The number of Linux users may be higher or lower by now. And also, the 'other' category isn't solely Linux.
