Fatal Error: Steam failed to load
I finally got Steam to download yesterday; it worked fine. But every time I try to open it now it comes up with "Fatal Error: Steam failed to load: *SteamStartEngine(0xffa8c230) failed with error 1: CMultiFieldBlob(pSerialized): Partial field header at end of record". I found this discussion and apparently you can fix it by removing ClientRegistry.blob; I'm not quite sure how to do this through Terminal though. Could someone please help me? Thanks.

I don't know about the problem and whether this is the solution, but to remove that file you type in the terminal
rm ~/.local/shares/Steam/ClientRegistry.blob

Well it came up with "No such file or directory" Sp I guess that isn't the solution :/ Anyone else have any other ideas on how to fix it? I've uninstalled and reinstalled steam multiple times; it hasn't worked.

EDIT: Removed outdated instructions.
EDIT2: OK, just fired up a Linux-powered laptop.

To do the blob fix:

1) Shutdown the Steam Client and ensure it isn't running in the background;
2) Open a Terminal
3) find . -name *.blob -print
4) rm /path/to/blob
5) Start Steam

Example:
gsharp@t61p ~ $ find . -name *.blob -print
./.local/share/Steam/ClientRegistry.blob
gsharp@t61p ~ $ rm ./.local/share/Steam/ClientRegistry.blob

If the blob fix doesn't work, we're going to need some details about your system - OS, video card, video drivers, etc.
