Steam for Linux

TF2: This game is currently unavailable, Please try again at another time.
i installed Ubuntu desktop 12.10, updated everything, finally got steam to damn work on ubuntu, downloaded ALL the 12 GB of tf2 for 8 looong hours, and when i finally launch it i get this damn message "This game is currently unavailable, Please try again at another time."

I have tried:
- Verifying integrity of game cache
- Defragmenting game files
- Restarting steam
- Restarting my computer

I am not sure, but just wait a bit, might solve your problem.
I got everything to work for me, however, when I logged out, then back in, I got this same error over and over and it wont stop.
BUMP, we need help this is a serius problem! tkaing hours of figuring out how to get ubuntu and steam to work and then 7 hours to download all of tf2 and then not being able to play it Dx
It does this because everyone is trying to open TF2 from a Linux at the same time because they all want the Tux.

Then I am lucky to have the tux, but I had openSUSE and steam already installed, before the beta stopped. Installed it as soon as the beta went open.

Maybe they check is you actual played TF2 on linux before ?
I have played TF2 over 50 hours on linux :P
Do Not install ubuntu 12.10.

Choose 12.04LTS

Use the 32 bit version

Create a shortcut to wibu on desktop

add the cmd line to the shortcut -32bit right after "wibu.exe"

When installing ubuntu/wibu 12.04LTS, make sure you allocate it to 30gb.

After that before you even install steam, you will get a prompt for "Additional Hardware" You will see an option for nVidia 310 drivers. Install that first.

Then you will see "Update Manager" on the left task bar. It will prompt you to update OpenGL.

Install Steam/TF2 and launch.

if i do this^ can somone atleast tell me how to make a backup of the tf2 files so i donw have to spend 9 bloody hours redownloading all 12GB of tf2
It can also be a factor that you didn't partition enough to Linux as that is something I am testing out atm I first tried with 18gb partition only left me with 32MB after I installed TF2 and I got that error so now I'm working on installing Steam so I can try it again with 30Gb Partition Either way I hope it works if not IpN is prolly right.
what is this partition you speak of? and what do i do?
I'm having the same issues. I can't start my TF2 either. I hope someone finds a solution, and quick. D:
This vid covers the basics.
If you want tf2 and more games, 20 gig is not enough though.
Use atleast 50 gig or more if you have the room for it.

Same here... had several problems downloading Steam, problems launching it, Linux update problems, now I got through all of that and then now - "Unavailable"

I'm laughing at myself XD It was all for a Tux ~_~
I feel like this is more of an Achievement item then a Promotional one.
