Team Fortress 2 won't launch!
I have been wasting my entire f****ing day setting Ubuntu 12.10 64 bit up on my Computer and then wasting 2 hours getting steam to work. Then when I try to launch TF2 it says preparing to launch in several minutes and then it says The game is currently unavailable please try again later. I hope there is someone with a similiar problem like me and know the solution cus I really want the penguin.

Open a terminal windows and enter this:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install linux-headers-generic
sudo apt-get upgrade

then open the software updater, click settings and install a driver from the additional drivers tab. If you are using nvidia you will need at least 310 and for amd it does not matter that much I think. When you did this reboot and it should work.

But won't the beta give you a tux in your beta backpack ? I haven't bothered with the beta in ages but last time I checked you couldn't trade items from your beta bp to your normal bp.

As for OP, there are multiple reasons you can end up with "game unavailable at this time". It's often linked to steam not being able to update a game. Restarting steam, allowing steam to update the game, going out of offline mode, doing an integrity check, deleting clientregistry.blob, (...), may help. Though since you were never able to launch the game, it could a deeper issue.

Bottom line, we can spend hours doing divination, but we can't know without details on your system, how you installed it, how you installed steam and tf2. And as a last resort, console outputs and pastebins links to your steam logs.
