You need a graphics driver that supports OpenGL 3.0. The virtual box 3D acceleartion is not enough. My advice would be to go with the WUBI install this way you have it on your native hardware without touching your Windows installation.
http://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop

Scroll down a bit. It's the easist way to get it installed (at a bit of a disk I/O performance panelty) but it won't mess with your bootloader and partitons so you are on the safe side.

Once you restart you can choose if you want to boot Windows 7 or Ubuntu.
With WUBI you can also safely remove Ubuntu (without remerging partions and fixing the bootloader) in case you don't like it but you should give it a few months and try it out. You'll see that you can do you daily PC work on Ubuntu aswell.

I'm sorry but I have a college exam tomorrow morning and it's time for me to go to bed already. Have to look at some lecture slides before that. I'm sure there are other folks who can help you out. It's not rocket science.

Down load it
now it on set up
Can i Go back to windows?
Sure you can boot whatever OS you want. If in Windows you can reboot select Ubuntu and start Ubuntu. If in Ubuntu you can reboot select Windows and start Windows.
