Low fps in Counter Strike 1.6

I have an i5, Nvidia 610M, 4gb ram laptop running Fedora 18 x64 with bumblebee installed and working. The problem is the fps, in the menu it doesn't go past 60 and drops down to 40 if I open any menu or if I go ingame.

I tried running it in a few ways:
- normal way ( "play" button from steam )

vblank_mode=0 primusrun steam steam://rungameid/10

-

optirun steam steam://rungameid/10

none of which make any noticeable difference.

Is there anything I can do?

ps: I also disable the compositor, no success

Is maxfps set or vsync off? Both of those may lock you at 60 depending on your hardware/settings.

If by maxfps you mean the fpsmax cvar ingame it's set to 100
Tried turning vsync off ingame from the settings but it just closes, not even an error

I had to force vsync off in my drivers. And yeah, I usually flip the fps command, luckily it autocompletes for me in game =]
