Torchlight is on Linux, but not Steam Linux?
Apparently available for purchase from the Ubuntu Software Center. There a way you guys can get in touch with the devs and get it on the Linux client?

Apparently this has at least a bit to do with it being a 3rd party port. Runic did not port the game themself. This will probably be resolved some time in the future.

I'd also like to have it on Steam. I got it with Torchlight 2 preorder but didn't buy the Humble Bundle so never had the chance to play it on Linux.

I think to be integrated they need to add the shift+tab option to be able to interact with steam in-game.
I guess it is a matter of integrating the steam lib in the game, but I'm sure it is not so simple and could raise issues.

If you go to the Torchlight forum, there's an active thread on this topic (as there are on all games' forums with this problem).

Same can be said for Trine and a few other indie games. I do hope they arrive on Steam for Linux sooner rather than later.

The Torchlight port is a really poor one, I doubt it would make steam quality standards. Porters bragged they did it in 30 hours and it certainly shows, far as I know it has not been updated since release with really obvious bugs like missing models and textures since launch. So, you're not missing much.

Where exactly it shows apart from missing faces from Player Character? That's the only issue I've noticed in my play through the game.

Well the missing faces on two characters is a pretty big one obviously, some ability effects were missing for the Alchemist and Vanquisher later in the game, a few items showed as blanks in my inventory, and one of the special quest embers was invisible, I just happened to stumble upon it. Overall the sluggish performance was really bad (I know AMD drivers have a lot to do with it) but I have a 2ghz i7 quad core, and dual 5870's in Crossfire mode and typically would get 10-15 FPS at most in combat situations on medium detail.

I love Torchlight, one of my favorite games. It was a big disappointment when it was ported, perhaps I am being overly critical but it seems like a bit more debugging would have made a big difference.

The best place to find out how to contact them, would be via the game hub http://steamcommunity.com/app/41500/discussions/

There was an update on the Humble-Bundle site, dated 2013-05-21. I can confirm that this update fixes character faces. In fact, it seems pretty-much exactly like the Windows version (which I played under Wine).

And I'm posting because I was wondering why there was a Linux version, but no Linux Steam version. Thanks for the clarity. :)

Things might change soon in that regard, https://twitter.com/RunicGames/status/413445477506351105 ;)

I would like Torchlight on the Humble Store as well, not just Steam. That, plus the sequel, of course. This is similar to the issue with Trine where both it and its sequel have Linux clients, but only the sequel has a Linux client on Steam. I want to play these games!

Well mods are still broken on Torchlight 1, and it seems noone is interested in fixing this now. I hope the TL2 will have, if ever, a better port. It took ~1year to fix the missing heads bug.
