Counter Strike: Source & TF2 Crashes on startup
I am currently running ubuntu 12.10 on a
HP Pavilion dv6-6140us Notebook AMD A-Series A8-3500M(1.5GHz) 15.6" 6GB Memory 640GB HDD 5400rpm BD Combo AMD Radeon HD 6620G.
It meets all the requirements.
All that happens is it gets pass the steam is loading screen, goes black like it is going to start up the actual application and then crashes in a second.

Experiencing absolutely the same problems.

I assume that this is somehow caused by video drivers. I'm gonna try out the other ones.

Try this:

remove video drivers by the command
sudo apt-get remove --purge fglrx fglrx_* fglrx-amdcccle* fglrx-dev*
then install drivers from the site. (http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx)
If it says that previous install of fglrx is found and you should uninstall it first, then just force the new installation with the --force parameter.
Worked for me.
