Crunchbang 11
Is there anyway I can get steam working on Crunchbang 11? I've been loosing my patince with Ubuntu/unity for a while, and switched to Crunchbang on my laptop. Is there any way I can get steam to work on Crunchbang, or will I have to stick to Ubuntu for now?

For those who haven't heard of it (like me):

Bear in mind: this distro isn't for people who are new, it encourages you to edit prefrences through the command line or config files, instead of a GUI interface.

If you really want a performance rolling release that is actually pretty stable I'd go for Arch. Best distro I've tried. Takes a lot of effort at first but you'll know your system far better.

This. Also, the official wiki is always helpful: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Steam .

The closest I've come is getting the EULA to pop up. Looks like I'm gonna have to stick with Ubuntu on my desktop for now.

Maybe we should try and get a solution, rather than running the whole "Arch! Ubuntu! Mint! Arch! Ubuntu! Random distro which nobody has ever heard of! Rebecca Black OS! Debian! ...!" act again.

Thanks, hughes.

this worked for me if anyone else need this :)

download:
http://media.steampowered.com/client/installer/steam.deb
http://mirrors.us.kernel.org/ubuntu//pool/main/x/x-kit/python-xkit_0.4.2.3build1_all.deb
http://mirrors.us.kernel.org/ubuntu//pool/main/j/jockey/jockey-common_0.9.7-0ubuntu7_all.deb

cd to download.
Then:
sudo dpkg --install python-xkit_0.4.2.3build1_all.deb
sudo dpkg --install jockey-common_0.9.7-0ubuntu7_all.deb

and if you're on 64bit os:
sudo dpkg --add-architecture i386

Add this to /etc/app/sources.list:
deb http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian sid main

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install libc6 (maybe I had to use aptitude, cant remember)

and install the steam deb file:
sudo dpkg --install steam_latest.deb

and then run:
steam &

remove "deb http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian sid main " after stem updatet its packages. (I dont know why, but it breaks something if i sudo apt-get update with it)
