Steam for Linux

Always Online
In Windows Steam tags you as away if I am afk for 10 minutes or so. I can leave for work go out after work and come home 15 hours later and it still shows me online. I get a LOT of messages from people that think I am ignoring them. For the time being I just tag myself, but it would be nice if I knew a work around or why it is not working.

I am using Linux Mint 14 (Cinnamon)

same issue in Ubuntu
No fix that anyone knows of?
You can always just mark yourself as away, just right click on your icon in the bottom right of the Steam window. It's easy enough
I know this discussion is outdated, but for visibility: you can easily write a script to replicate the built in functionality

I don't have a solution but I hope you find one soon.

Just want to say that if people think you're ignoring them then that's their problem. Don't feel bad for something outside your control. It's their fault for feeling that way and not understanding that either a) Your client is bugged, b) You're busy doing something important, c) Someone else is on your PC, d) You're not noticing the messages or doing something else etc.

Like I hate it when people text or message me on Facebook and get ♥♥♥♥♥♥ because I don't reply straight away. Some people just don't understand!
I have noticed this on Ubuntu aswell, but I have had this happen to me in Windows 7 also. I set my status to away or busy and it will change to online. Luckly I don't get to many messages on Steam, Facebook is another issue.
