repeated steam updates - the same one!

three or four times now in the past few days the steam client has prompted me to restart to install an update, each time the update is is listed as from the 17th jan, according to help >about steam is build jan 30 at 13:02:19 and stays that way even after the 'update'

any one else get this?

In the time this beta is going, I have had a lot of updates not listed in the changelog. The build however is always from that same day or a day before, so I can't explain that.

My latest build for the moment is from feb 1 2013 15:47:31 by the way...

i belatedly realised that i was on the beta selection in the steam>settings menu because that was the only way for half life to launch, when i went back to the non-beta version of the beta! :)
i found that the build date was now feb1 as you have, also now half life launches properly with this version of the client, but i still have the problem with the cursor showng and preventing movement when the cursor hits the edge of the screen:(
