Steam for Linux

I saw Steam tray icon! :) Neither it has correct image nor responses to mouse though.
Gentooo / amd64, KDE 4.9.5. Icon looks like white sheet of paper with curved bottom-right corner.

Well, then it's a bug I see.

For KDE, an environment which Valve is not supporting yet.
So in-short, if you go anywhere other than the community about this, you'll get "We're not supporting that platform yet."

Yeah, I remember talks about "why don't they use DE-independent tray icon protocol from X.org?". So I beleive that icon I saw (disappeared now) was just some try by chance deployed with public beta version.

I wasn't making any accusations, I was just trying to give you a head's up for what to expect if you go to GitHub and report this as a bug.
on kde 4.10 beta it appears as you say but it does respond to right mouse

my icon has the steam image but "Steam" doesn't minimize to tray when I close the window. Running Mint 14 Cinnamon

Well now it's back, blank again, responds to right-click but usually with delay of 2-3 seconds (sometimes immediately though, could not determine the pattern).

I'm runnning Gentoo AMD64 with KDE 4.9.5. I also got the tray icon for the first time today. It is a folded sheet of paper as the OP is seeing. I can interact with the context menu using right-click.

Running Arch Linux with Tint2. Tray icon shows as a folded sheet of paper. Otherwise it works as it should.
Was removed after the last update (at least, for me).
Anyway, the icon was very slow and unusable (Mint, Cinnamon, AMD).

On mint with cinnamon I've had the icon off and on, not necessarily correlated to an update. I appreciate when I do have it. Hover feedback on the menu is slow but it does function correctly for me.

Since today, i have the icon in the systray of xfce 4.10, nice.

Arch Linux with Cinnamon. I have had steam in the tray for awhile and it has worked great (lib32-libappindicator), after this update it now shows as a missing icon but still works.
