tear to my eye
Hey Linux community, as an avid long time supporter of Linux, I just wanted to say how happy I am to finally see Steam for linux. I hope you all are having fun. Sadly... I have a Macbook, so thats how I do it. But if I didn't, I'd be running Fedora or Ubuntu.

Happy gaming

You can install Linux with no problems I believe. The problem would be installing a non-Mac OS on a Macbook or a MacOS onto a non-Mac machine.

We're making awesome progress on Linux, you should give it a try =)

I'll looked it up and it seemed like it might be a hassle, but I've thought about. Thanks for posting

If you even want a fool-proof way of installing Ubuntu then get BootCamp or something set up and use the Wubi installer.. so whenever you boot the Windows you have the option of booting Ubuntu as well.

I use Macbook Air and I think it was really straightforward to install Ubuntu. I didn't need to use BootCamp. I just created a new partition using Disk Utility, convert the Ubuntu ISO to IMG, dd it into your USB stick and you can install it just like normal PC. I used the method in the first link of the ones Ilrita gave above.

I'm all wiggly and jiggly nowadays, steam is taking the first step in what I believe will be a huge shift/movement in the gaming and pc world! I can't say how much I love Gabe Newell! Now it seems other big game producers are getting they're eyes up for linux too! I've hear roumors blizzard are planning to release a linux client of one of they're popular titles:D all thanks to Valve/Steam/Gabe :D
