How to use the Kubuntu program launcher icons to launch steam with primus
I finally managed to get steam to run on Kubuntu 12.04 using primus and the command vblank_mode=0 primusrun . Having to enter that command every time you run the game gets old. To fix this right click on the "kickoff application launcher" go to "edit applications". You now see the "KDE Menu Editor" navigate to Steam under the Games section and click on it. Off to the right you will notice a section that says "Command:" and has a place for you to enter a command. In that field enter "vblank_mode=0 primusrun steam" or whatever command works for you such as the one for optirun. After that you should be able to hit the icon for steam and the command will execute automatically and no more typing it in.
