Logitech F(3/5/7)10 and linux
I saw that Valve advertises Logitech F710 in Big Picture mode.
I want to buy F510 (wich is wired version of 710) but do not know how it works in linux.
So does somebody tried it?

I got older Rumblepad2, wireless - works flawlessly under Linux :)
I guess it will be same with newer model.
Can anyone confirm the 710? Logitech has no info on their site and they do not have a great history of supporting Linux.

Look what controller shown. Big Picture works on linux, so...
Yeah I have seen that, and did ask this same Q today but somehow posted in the AMD forum, http://steamcommunity.com/app/221410/discussions/4/864957182883144777/ Anyhow no official support on the Logitech site and none of my other Logitech devices are officially supported so would rather know before I laydown the cash on a whim, for all we know the controller in the big picture image could just be what was left in the available stock photo library after the PS3 and 360 controllers had been filtered out.

I imagine you are right but it is not a cheap controller to take the punt on.

I have owned F510 for over a year now, and are very pleased with it. But games like Trine 2 still have issues with joydev, and Big Picture got the keys a bit backwards here.

I have a logitech F710 it works perfectly alteast in Xinput.
Perfectly as in "no configuration needed at all"?
By the way, how big are the dead zones of analog sticks? I am unfortunate owner of a pad which has dead zones covering 75% of the sticks movement. :(
the logitech's to my knowledge do work, however i think they also need a special program in the middle to work (joydev i think) and xinput switch (found on the back of the controller).

im too lazy to look it up, but google will be your friend for this one.
For me, in Ubuntu the required packages for gamepads were installed by default. I had to fix the button configuration in Big Picture mode though as XY and AB were reversed
I got the F710 and it works flawlessly when using XInput Mode. It is a standard mode for XBOX Controllers and Linux does recognize it. No need to switch Buttons or anything. Should work with 510, too.
Tnx for the input, very helpful.

@Jazztickets Not going to get into a discussion here, I like Logitech products and have spent several hundreds on them over the years, but my experience has been that of no official support and every device I have requiring some messing with to work fully or at all, something that in 2013 is starting to take the piss. If it was not for the hard work of the community we would have nothing.
So i bought F510 and bring Steam native to work.
I starts to work normally in BP mode after reconfiguration in BP settings. Every button work but i dont know about vibration.
Also got the F710, no issues at all, glad I got that part.

Only issue left, can't switch to bigpicture mode, using HD 7850M on Ubuntu 12.10, latest Catalyst 13.1
