L4D2/wine on linux
Well, I know that L4D2 is not ready yet for linux, but I tried it on wine and it works better than I expected.

However, does anyone know how to change the language of the menu? It appears to crash when I select buttons that contain special characters such as "é" or "à", and I wonder if changing the menu language from French to English (without any such characters) would fix anything at all...

Also, for those who got it to work very well on linux, did you alter anything on wine or L4D2?

Right click on the game on steam library, choose proprieties, then click on language, choose english et voilá.

Thanks, but this only seems to change the language in game (the GUI remains in French...)

You mean the steam GUI? Then Steam -> definitions -> interface, then change language

Thanks for your help! Steam and L4D2's GUI are now in English. And as I expected, no more crashes. Thanks again!
