What about L4D2?
So.. on the earlier days was stated that L4D2 was already working on linux, despite that, it is not avaiable(yet?) on steam for linux. Any news about it?

Probably one of the release titles when the client exits beta. Hopefully sometime late February or March.

Asking Valve for ETAs. What did you expect?
"Oh hi. Good thing you ask. We will launch Left 4 Dead 2 alongside Half-Life 3 for Linux next week. Here is a free steamkey!"

And you expected what? That they will reveal all their plans to some random users like us? Perhaps even give us ETA for HL3? :P

Yeah, ♥♥♥♥ing helpfull!!
No one would think that they were disclosing any big secret but.. c'mon,It's like they haven't readed what you asked for...

That valve_time wiki was self-explainatory, now I remember the years I spent checking the "when it's done" black mesa source(it turned to be awesome when released anyway)

Black Mesa Source is not Valves work, it's made by group of HL fans, tho HL itself is... rofl :)

doesn't l4d and l4d 2 run on a slightly different version of the source engine where tf2, half life2, and pretty much every source game up to the release of the orange box use the exact same version of the source engine just with alternating assetes for each game. If im right about that than even though they may have started porting l4d2 first it makes more sense that the hl2(with episodes), counter strike source, day of defeat source, and maby even portal would be released first before any of the left 4 dead games because they can use tf2 to iron out any of the bugs in the engine and then just swap out the assets. at least thats my thinking

They chose TF2 because it's free and accessible by anyone (pretty much) and because they need to concentrate their efforts into one game at a time for now (limited resources).

At least, I would like to know, if L4D2 (or any other Source game) will come during beta or we have to wait for final version.
I asked them in November and they said:

"We can’t provide a date for those games but we are working on numerous Source games with the plan of getting them out to our Linux crowd in the future."

They probably don't know for certain either.
They'll release it when it makes sense I suppose.
