Request for porting of DOSBox games.
I don't know how many people I will get support from, as there is not a very big audience for this, but I, for one, would like to see steam port the old games that they now support using DOSBox (ex. Tomb Raider 1) to Linux simply by doing what they do in windows, but with the Linux DOSBox. My one thing is that I'd also like it to be SteamPlay (is that the correct terminology?), so I don't have to re-buy the game when it won't be running natively on either one.I can understand if there is some legal issue, but please provide at least me with an explanation or plan of action. Can I get some support for this? Or any other DOSBox games that you play that you wish to come to Linux OR have come to Linux?

It's not up to Valve to port non-Valve game. For example, if you want to have Tomb Raider I in Steam for Linux, spam Eidos forums :)

But Valve can contact game publishers and ask what they want, suggest stuff etc. Probably they do it very often.

It's not really hard, Steam could also check for the DOSBox in the system to prevent downloading many versions of the same application, this is a problem when it comes to the libraries like d3d, but I think games in DOSBox should run fine regardless of the version. I don't think developers would be against it, it's a good and easy way to see more games on Linux and there won't be "not natively ported" issue because Windows uses the same solution.

Exactly my thoughts.

It should be easy. All you need - just replace dosbox.

I want it too because I'm a Tomb Raider I fan.
But I think it is because of it being easy that now it is not in the focus of Valve's work.
