Black Mesa on STEAM Linux Client
Black Mesa works in the POL STEAM install, but is there a way to get this to work/installed under the new STEAM Linux client?

Source engine seems to be ported, Black Mesa would be awesome!

The Source SDK would have to be ported.

Would be great to see the SDK ported, so we can play mods. It might be a problem for older mods though, if they require dlls (or in this case .so)

well, the source engine has been ported, but they didn't release it yet.

The makers won't make it available for Linux even if the source sdk was available for Linux.
They mentioned they won't make it available for Mac, and the source sdk is available for Mac.

Not 100% true.

Will Black Mesa be ported to Xbox360, Mac or another platform?

At the moment Black Mesa supports only PCs powered by Microsoft Windows operating system [9]. No support for Mac or port for Xbox360 (although the Xbox360 controller is supported [10]). Linux will be supported only if developers could port the codebase over easily [11].

And SDK 2009 available on Mac is useless for Black Mesa team.

We have access to the 2007 engine which is windows based only. The engine cannot work on other systems with out using an emulation tool due to using windows only system calls. Specifically the use of the windows API and Directx. You can search google for more information on platform only code, here is a start.

The 2009 sdk can be used on a mac with OpenGL but we are not using that sdk. Lack of custom shader support and few other reasons.

This almost sounds like they'd favor Linux over Mac and XBOX 360.
Sooooooo.... port it to Linux! Be prepared for the Steambox and the torrent of new Linux customers swarming into Steam lately! Besides, a LOT of stuff is coming, or already came over, to Linux from Valve's Source libraries: Half Life, Team Fortress 2 (part of the Orange Box and using HL2's engine), Counter-strike: Source, Serious Sam 3, etc.

It's already been shown these games perform and play better under Linux. Come on. You know you want to. :)

Well actually SS3 plays pretty poorly for me lol, so I'm not sure if your last statement is completely true, yet.

You haven't seen them running on windows, have you?

IT DOES WORK via wine.

You just install wine, download black mesa and the tools. Don't remember the tool's name.

and move some files to certain directory

and that's it you got working mesa on linux.

Done that before.

Of course it works, no one is questioning that. It's still not the same as it being native, however.
