STEAM icon applet in the Gnome Fallback Panel
I'm using the just release STEAM Linux client. Is there a way to have a STEAM applet show up in the panel?

Ok, interesting that it shows up in the gnome panel as functions as expected when using WINE/POL STEAM based games.

So, this is a problem of the libappindicator:i386 requirement for the applet being incompatible with the AMD64 version of the O/S. In other words, libappindicator is not multiarch.
