Steam for Linux

Linux Mint 14 and TF2
System specs
AMD FX6100
Radeon HD 6950 2GB
8GB DDR3
Linux Mint 14 mate_amd64

The only drivers that i was able to get tf2 to run under were the x.org drivers. Both the fglrx and fglrx-updates resulted in a box flashing for a second and nothing after that.

The x.org drivers opened and ran the game it played at about 10-20 fps with settings on low.

Will try the latest drivers off of AMD's web site next

You can also try the latest by xorg-edgers ppa, if you trust that. Unfortunately, I only could get things to work (TF2, SS:BFE) when logging in @ Gnome Classis (Fallback, no effects). Most, if not all full screen games don't like compiz-type stuff, but hopefully help is on the way (i.e. improved Compiz).

I'v been running tf2 @ windowed 1600x900 with drivers from amd site (using this guide: http://steamcommunity.com/app/221410/discussions/4/846939071292575348/#c846939071362426548
Lot's of lag, mostly because CPU usage is very high (one core at 100% and rest 50-100%). AMD Phenom II x6 960T 3,00ghz
MSI R7850
8gb ram

amd athlon x2 64 2ghz, 3gb ram, nvidia 8200m 521mbs
with edgers nvidia driver 313.09 and there x.org just fine in windowd and full screen

Cool. Got the beta drivers installed and tf2 runs smoother then ever. Only thing ive been running into is ever since the steam repo was added to my update managers sources ive been getting a GPG error NO_PUBKEY everytime i look for updates.
