Steam for Linux

Steam for Linux

Virtualgl support =0)
Hi. Here's a video of me running Unigine Heaven benchmark via VirtualGL, inside x2go:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5VIrUKGeOqw&feature=youtu.be

Unfortunately the frame rate is bollocks because I couldn't find a program that would record video at a decent frame rate in linux or Windows 8. Fraps doesn't seem to work in this case because I'm running Win8 and the keyboard gets captured when I run the window full screen.
I get around 20FPS via x2go in linux.

Some linux apps/ games work via virtualgl, including games installed in wine. However for some reason x2go doesn't like wine, I get crazy mouse issues and etc.
While running games via VirtualGL by itself is no good either because it doesn't support sound without x2go/ some other NX session.

So, this is why I want steam for linux to be compatible with VirtualGL. Where as at the moment when I run Team Fortress 2 I get the following:

mediapc@Virtual-Box:~$ vglrun -d :1.0 steam steam://rungameid/520

So bassically I'd just like it to run ;0P
I have my Ubuntu machine downstairs that I use for running virtual machines, video editing etc, and I'd like to be able to use it for gaming in the future! :0)
I want to run games from it via my mediapc upstairs on Steam Big Picture. I don't imagine any of this will be possible soon, but it would be nice if it were possible one of these days...

I know it's been about a year since this post, but I do agree.

I would like steam to better support VGL. I only have one high end system that I can use for gaming, and it's big and bulky. With VGL and steam support, I could game on any of my lower end systems, assuming I have a decent internet connection.

Thank you!
