It's fully updated OS and Steam. I also tried other solutions on other threads. Those didn't work, please help!

Hey guys try this:

export LIBGL_DRIVERS_PATH=/usr/lib32/dri
steam

Had the same issue and found that some extensions were not loaded - now works fine.
doomicle Dec 10, 2012 @ 6:12pm
Thanks ttecss, that worked for me! :)
How would you make this permanent? I wonder if this is due to the fact that I haven't updated my system recently.
tecs Dec 11, 2012 @ 2:16am
You might want to add the first line in your ~/.bashrc file, so it will set the variable automatically.

EDIT:
Actually without the export:
LIBGL_DRIVERS_PATH=/usr/lib32/dri

I don't have a /usr/lib32 folder. Do these instructions apply only to 32 bit?
cigydd Dec 15, 2012 @ 3:37am
The same problem here.
I also don't have the /usr/lib32 folder on my system. I have installed the recent DRI drivers though. I think this folder is only present on 64-bit systems and includes 32-bit libraries.
Any luck or clues anyone?

Go to System > System Settings > Software Sources > Additional Drivers > choose Experimental NVIDIA driver (or however its all called in english version :) ).

Cause if you got NVIDIA you want 310.x+ drivers, not current stable which is 304 I think.

And Linux is not Windows where you can just ignore most updates except Service Packs, here every update makes difference, so keep it... updated :)

OK. Now I'm going to tell you I try to run Steam on Linux Mint and an Intel graphics card. Still, is there any chance to run Steam on Intel?
I worked around a bug successfully setting LIBGL_ALWAYS_SOFTWARE=1 but I try to go through the one mentioned above occuring with my Intel card.

You don't need the folder to exist - it's more of a logical path... Works both on 32 and 64 bit OSs.
oneinfiniteloop Dec 17, 2012 @ 10:53am
/usr/lib32 is /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu for *buntu systems
cigydd Dec 18, 2012 @ 12:12am
Oh, that's it! Thanks for the explanation :-)

I had the same problem, and this fixed it for me:
export MESA_EXTENSION_OVERRIDE='GL_EXT_texture_filter_anisotropic'
