Team Fortress Crash at startup
Hi, I have the black screen issue (no sound) only when I use the fglrx and fglrx-update drivers, but not with xserver-xorg-video-ati. With this one I was able to play, but with low FPS (as it appens with any other non-steam game). No one of the black screen tricks works for me.
I Have Ubuntu 12.10 64bit, and I have an ATI HD 5470. How can I know if my drivers are updated to the latest release?
Sorry for my bad english, I'm italian!

It's known problem. Try installing fglrx 12.11 beta 11 driver downloaded from AMD site or from precise-proposed repository.
Would that be quantal-proposed?
I have tried to. But when i run the installer it tells me that my graphic card is unsupported ("your graphic adapter is unsupported by the driver"), but that's not true! Maybe it's an error of the installer!
As far as I know there is no beta drivers in quantal-proposed repository. Which metod did You choose? (install or generate distro package?)

I have a Radeon HD 5670 and I'm having the same problem, it launches a full black screen but then it crashes. I'm using the adm drivers
I used the install metod first, but then I've tried to generate the distro package. It worked! The game starts and it's playable, but not as fast as windows!
I have this problem for Multiplayer I got severe graphical anomalies such that just big multi-coloured blocks and needed to hard reboot. Practice Map after loading drops to desktop. I am using fglrx 12.11 beta 11 for which I generated the .deb packages. Basic System specs are:

Ubuntu 12.04
Kernel 3.2.0-34-generic
CPU: Intel Core2Duo E6850
Motherboard: MSI P965 Platinum
ATI Radeon HD 6770 with fglrx 12.11 beta 11
4 Gb memory
