TF2 crashes when downloading custom maps
TF2 crashes when connecting to a server running a custom map. The crash happens just as the download starts, but no file is created in the map directory (the user running steam has write permissions for the directory). Manually downloading the map and reconnecting to the server runs without crashing.

Same here, maps, sounds, everything custom. Bypassable by disabling the download in settings -> multiplayer.

Exactly the same for me
(running linux mint 13 with an ati 6870 with 12.11 driver and amd fx-6100)

Ubuntu 12.04 with Geforce 9400GT

Same symptoms. Custom maps and custom content downloads crash the game to the desktop

EDIT: So does creating a local server.

Same here. 64-Bit Archlinux. It worked a few hours ago, though.

I fixed this by installing curl and libcurl. (running 12.04 xfce 64 bit)

sudo apt-get install libcurl3-gnutls curl

Looks like the steam client just downloads the 32 bit variants.
