Steam for Linux

Steam for Linux

Download stalled?
Just got my email invite, and setup steam. I started the download of TF2 and it got to 8%. It is just sitting there, not downlading anymore.

Should I just wait? Its been almost an hour since it stopped downloading. It says "Suspended"?

System:
Ubuntu 12.10
Kernel: 3.5.0-18-generic
16 gigs of ram
AMD Radeon HD 6750. fglrx driver
AMD Phenom II X6 1100T Processor x 6

I'm in a similar situation - just got the invite, started downloading, and TF2 stopped at 60%. Pausing and unpausing the download didn't fix it. I exited Steam and restarted it and the download picked back up.
That did it. Thanks browren. Existing and restarting Steam restarted the download.

UPDATE:

I spoke to soon. It got me another couple hundred megs, then went right back to not downloading. It doesnt say Suspended anymore, still says Downloading. But it isnt downloading anything.

Same issue here. When I start Steam, it runs fine for a few hundred megs and then the download just trails off.
I seem to have the exact same issue with TF2, stuck at 7 GB. Will try restarting the client.
I have experienced the same issue multiple times as well. Apparently restarting the client does the trick but it's not a sure way to keep things going. If you leave Steam to download and you go AFK, the DL might halt again.
I left it over night and it said something like 60% and was frozen, I rebooted it and it said it had completed and I can play TF2 just fine. It sure is a strange bug, feel free to add me on steam so we can play TF2.
Same for me. I have to restart the client to let it proceed, non of the pause/resume buttons seem to make any difference.

Also nothing on the terminal when the download stalls.
Are there any env variables I can set to get more detailed output on downloads?

I run 64bit ArchLinux with multilib.
This is pretty much reproducable by cutting of the network connection. The download would never proceed afterwards, even connection is up again. Only a steam client restart helps. Although searches for games still works after the connection is working again.
same there. Stucked on 2,8 Gb with <100 KB/s
I'm at about 10.7... and I am now suspended as well. Restarting did nothing for me, and pressing the pause/resume button only lets in a few kb at a time. :/
I'm on Debian Testing (Wheezy) 64bits and the download stop fort me after a few hundred meg mod download. ISSUE for me : restart steam
If Valve is sending invites for checking out Steam for Linux, I guess servers could be overloaded, who knows :)
I have a similar problem. Every few minutes, the download resets to 0%. It's getting really annoying that I can't have a stable download like on Windows.
The same issue still exists, no solution found .(
Heh, a while back folks were complaining Steam downloads were overwhelming people's bandwidth.
