Because no one developed one yet.

We're just hoping for developers like Codemasters to port DiRT or GRID to Linux now. Or even Polyphony Digital (gasp!).

The game Distance has been greenlit - and has promised a Linux version

i've talked a bit with the developers of Ignite, they announced a Linux port a long time ago, they replied they still plan to do it but they gave no release date.
thanks abartiger, that would be obvious. my question is, why none bother to port their racing game on Linux, since there are over 150 games from other genres already ported...

Yeah, Distance seems nice, but i guess i'm more of a real-world-like racing fan than a TRON-like one :)

@Ezekiel Even if it's obvious what abartiger said – one can still only guess! Probably there are no other reasons! ;D

The first one who will finish a racing game now on Linux will have a slightly market bonus of course.

The Greenlight page says that Distance should come out this summer.

If you want a sim racing game for Linux, you can look for iRacing (beware, you must pay a subscription fee to play), too bad it isn't on Steam. Actually, they are searching beta testers for the Linux version.

Some of you may be happy to know that we have been working on porting iRacing to run on Mac and Linux. By rough estimates Apple and Linux make up between 15% - 25% of the market space and as far as we can tell nothing like iRacing exists on those platforms. We are actually far enough along with this project that we have our first build to test. This is exciting for iRacing because we could see a nice jump in members with this port.
If you are a Mac or Linux user and want to get involved with testing we would appreciate the help. Please email chris.weidner at iracing dot com with your system specifications and what controllers you have for these systems and he will get back to you if we would like your help.

(Title is "iRacing is coming to Mac and Linux", you can just read the quote.)

That's awesome, I just don't see how he could create a game like that for 10k.

There won't be a new Project Gotham, Activision killed Bizarre Creations.
