steam problem with starting
hi there

after the last update i can't start steam anymore :|

and i get this in terminal:

any clue why ? i read that someone fixed this with installing the pulseaudio (no way i have it on)

I used to export STEAM_RUNTIME=0 in a wrapper script for Steam. Commenting this line out got me going again.
This is expected as the runtime contains binaries that Steam depends on, so if you turn off the runtime you may have unsatisfied dependencies. Running with the Steam runtime enabled is the recommended approach.
Yes, but the dependencies Steam included used to cause problems, always causing a warning you had to click through to get Steam to load. Can't remember the exact message, but it was annoying. Luckily, that issue now appears to have been addressed so disabling this environment variable on other distributions is now possible.
interestingly Steam works with runtime enabled... last time i tried it didn't work/was making problems :|
