There seems to be a lot of these going around lately and although I understand the motive I don't think they will accomplish very much.

If we really want more games ported to Linux we have to buy what is available, this provides real sales statistics to companies.

I am not saying stop petitioning, but also buy as much as possible as every game bought is going to speak a lot louder.

8 supporters in under 1 hour haha

There is a rumor that they are going to port one of their existing games and tbh, I wouldn't be suprised since they ninja supporting WoW under WINE for years now (like updating and fixing opengl renderer in Windows version where everyone is using DirectX). Also all their games have opengl versions and no Windows specific parts like dotnet or some other ♥♥♥♥, another step closer.

As for those amazing petitions which gather usually up to 10 supporters, pointless.

Also there is no such thing as Linux operating system, do your research perhaps.

There was also a rumour a few years ago[www.phoronix.com] that Blizzard had a Linux version of the World of Warcraft client that they used for internal testing and debugging.

I suppose that other people, like me, prefer to just say "Linux" for convenience's sake. Similar to how Steam for Linux is called "Steam for Linux." Or maybe by "Linux operating systems," he means Linux distributions that run on the Linux kernel. Trust me, I have tried to specify such things when talking about it with my buddies that aren't in the loop, but it just lead to awkward confusion. But yes, it's important to have the difference in mind.

This has been confirmed here:

Sure, it's Phoronix, but this is one of the few Phoronix articles that actually has a source (the Battle.net thread).

Which is nice. It would be nicer still if they offered genuine support and stop randomly banning accounts of WINE users.

I guess it's WoW..

Not only WoW has had an internal Linux client, but also confirmed is an internal Diablo III client... I've seen people speculated about a Starcraft II client, but that has gone unconfirmed (at least uncommented in the B.net fora... at least I'd wish they'd include an OpenGL renderer to their existing Windows client to make it easeir to run through wine :P )

Do you mean Linux users who cheat? Because I could go cheat while playing under Linux, get banned and then start spreading FUD at WINE forums that Blizzard is banning Linux users... How do you know that those guys using WINE did not cheat? Maybe it was just easier for Blizz anticheat system to detect them under WINE then under Windows, who knows what really happened there.

So pretty please, with cherry on top, don't spread that kind of information where there is no proof of that :)

How do you know all those WINE users that got banned cheated? Who's spreading FUD now, ♥♥♥♥♥?

Tell that to all the people who got their accounts canceled, simply because Blizzard don't officially support Linux. Instead of spreading misinformation by telling people that Blizzard support Linux.
