Steam for Linux

openSUSE vs Ubuntu
If I download TF2 on openSUSE, will it work on Ubuntu later and vice verse? Do Steam uses the same files for all distros?

Not sure what you mean - as in transferring the game files across? Yeah, you should have no issues at all.

Yes, if the downloaded files are the same no matter what distro did the download and if they work cross-distro.
openSUSE TF2 download = 11.2GB
Ubuntu = 16GB

I guess your ubuntu is the oldest one? And thus containing more patch files probably
Idk, it should be the same =)

I downloaded on 12.04, burned to a DVD and it worked at 13.04 as well.

Whats your TF2 folder size?
10958MB On Mint 14
10.1 on opensuse

Last week reinstalled openSUSE, and had to download tf again.

6.5 GB on KUbuntu 13.04 x64
It says 12 GB on my openSUSE 12.3.

I think it depends on what other Source games do you have installed on your system.
Oh, I see. Ubuntu is faulty on recognizing sizes. 20GB on openSUSE (The real size) is shown 21.5GB on Ubuntu, that's why my Ubuntu download showed about 16GB
