Mouse Stutter in Source Games
I've noticed that a stutter in mouse aiming (keyboard is fine) has developed in CSS, HL2DM, and DODS (TF2 had it, but fixed itself), I've tried changing every mouse setting, but nothing seems to work. The effect is worse when there are players or bots on screen. Has anyone else encountered/fixed this?

Is the studder only in aiming or does the whole game studder? If the whole game studders, my guess is that textures and sounds are being loaded from the hard drive, and the amount of time it takes the drive to seek the data is causing it, or you are running short of physical RAM and using swap space. How much RAM do you have in your machine and what type of filesystem do you have your game installed on?

It's just aiming, so that's not really the issue.

Sounds like either a refresh rate or a network bandwidth problem.

@Marcem - I get this aswell in HL2DM. I almost didn't realise it, except that I was doing some v-sync on/off and latency tests and was looking for issues.
It's at it's most noticeable when trying to strafe circle but centering your crosshair on an object - you can visibly see the stutter then.

I haven't checked Valve's github yet to see if this has been reported.

try turning off raw input that helped me alot with mouse issues

What about framerate? Is it stable and above 60fps all time? Do you have vsync on or off? What's your machine and system (OS, gpu, drivers)? Give us some details.

Strange. I rebooted into Windows, and can reproduce the same problem on there in HL2DM, so the issue I'm having isn't related to anything within Linux. The strange part is that movement in normal HL2 (not DM) in Windows is a lot smoother, and doesn't suffer from any stutter that I could notice.

The effect is subtle, and can't really be noticed until you start trying to circle strafe around something. If you do this a bit you should notice some minor stutter (almost looks like objects are shaking a little), especially if you then compare it to just moving the mouse to look around while stationary (which is smooth).

Because this isn't a Linux issue, and having not really played HL2DM before the Linux port was out, I'm not sure whether this was a pre-existing issue. Should I bother posting my info and filing this as a bug? It could have been there the whole time. When normal HL2 is released I'll check it out again though to compare.

I'm getting stable above 60 fps, running it with the latest experimental 310 nvidia drivers on Ubuntu 13.04, running a:
Intel Core i5-3550 3.3 ghz
Nvidia gtx 560
8gb ram

Aiming is very smooth on the Windows side.
