Your patience ran out, that happened I guess :)

Relax and enjoy Valve time! It'll be available some day!

Well, special early access won't happen as the client has been out of beta for some time. Those guys were lied to, unless they got the game but never speak about it.

Updated 7 days ago. Probably the "never speak about it" version is the winner. Some NDA or similar contract might be behind this.

i can remember reading that this bundle included portal only for the reason that a already-released (even non-linux) game has to be present in a sub.
so probably nobody except valve has ever had portal running under gnu/linux.

To heck with Portal, I want my Left 4 Dead. Come on Gabe, stop withholding it and let us Linux gamers beta test it for you. LOL!

There was never a Portal beta. Not for closed beta, not for valve or anyone.
Valve explained what was up with the Steam DB entry.

"... the only reason Portal was mentioned was due to a requirement we had when creating the limited beta keys. It has not been ported to Ubuntu 12.04 at this time."
