That will probably change soon.
I was able to start the game, didn't see any limitations of the game in the few minutes I played but I guess there is a low leveling limit for the version. I copied it to steam folder of the game but still couldn't start it. Let me know if maybe any of u guys succeed.
EDIT: was able to fix it
You have to give the installer from their page the steam directory of the game, should look something like that /home/micha/.local/share/Steam/SteamApps/common/Altitude
also "dont create symlinks" if you don't run installer as root. After the game is installed the correct steam dir of the game I'm able to run the game.
There is one problem with that version, it doesn't recognize that I'm running through steam and doesn't act like a full version because of it but at least you can play a little bit until the steam version runs correctly.
Linux Version
The version that is just been available to play on linux cant launch due to a missing excutable
EDIT BY DEVELOPER: This issue should be fixed soon. In the meantime, if you run into a "missing executable" message when launching Altitude on Steam-Linux please try this workaround:
1) Install Altitude on Steam
2) Download http://nimblygames.com/altitude/depot_linux.zip
3) Extract the downloaded zip to the Altitude-Steam install directory (something like ~/.local/share/Steam/SteamApps/common/Altitude)
4) Enable read/execute permissions on the new files from the command line:
chmod -R 777 ~/.local/share/Steam/SteamApps/common/Altitude
5) Altitude should now launch from Steam as expected
